Translate AI-search observations into a small queue of changes you can implement and evaluate.
Begin with a business question
“Are we visible?” is too broad to guide implementation. Ask a specific, purchase-relevant question instead: when a UK store owner asks for WooCommerce checkout help, which providers and sources appear, and does our site explain that service clearly?
Choose a small scenario set: problem diagnosis, supplier evaluation and branded factual questions. Record geography, language and platform. Use the cross-platform tracking guide for the measurement method; this article focuses on what to do with the results.
Keep evidence behind every observation
Record the prompt, date, platform, market, answer and cited URLs where available. Distinguish a brand mention from a recommendation and from a link to your own site. Repeat important observations before treating them as persistent patterns; a different answer on one run may be sampling variation.
Turn a finding into a specific task
- Wrong service description: compare your own site and cited sources with the actual offer, then correct inconsistent public facts.
- Relevant question has no answer: check existing URLs and genuine demand before expanding the most appropriate page.
- Competitor is cited repeatedly: identify the question its source answers and address a real evidence gap without copying it.
- Useful page seems inaccessible: inspect indexing, rendering and access independently, then fix the verified technical problem.
- Answers vary: collect more comparable observations before rewriting pages.
Prioritise by relevance, confidence and effort
Start with factual errors and verified access problems on important pages. Next address repeated gaps connected to a service you actually sell. For each task, name the URL, evidence, intended reader benefit, owner and verification method. Keep speculative opportunities separate from confirmed defects.
Connect visibility to visits and enquiries
Compare monitoring observations with referral visits, relevant landing-page activity and qualified enquiries where analytics can identify them. These are different measurements: an increase in mentions is not automatically an increase in traffic or sales.
For Google AI features, Google’s guidance retains the foundations of SEO and does not promise inclusion. Monitoring should help discover worthwhile improvements, not encourage unsupported special-markup claims.
Common questions
- Do I need another monitoring platform?
- First identify the decision your current data cannot support. Use the tools comparison to assess coverage and export requirements.
- Should every missing mention produce a new article?
- No. Check business relevance, existing content and repeated evidence first. Many findings belong on an existing page or require no action.
